Week 8 · MCP & identity · about 3 minutes
What you will be able to do
Explain MCP as one standard way Helix agents reach customer systems like ServiceNow or EHR APIs.
The idea
MCP exposes tools and resources over a standard protocol so any compliant agent can call the customer's systems the same way.
You write one TypeScript (or other) MCP server per system; agents stop embedding bespoke SDKs.
server.tool("get_incident", { id: z.string() }, async ({ id }, ctx) => {
return servicenow.get(id, ctx.user);
});One protocol, one audit surface, many agents.
Key takeaways
- MCP standardises tool access.
- Agents stop shipping private SDKs.
- Audit and identity live at the server.
